Drawing A New Map
Lake Suzy, Florida
Our time as Holden Village Executive Director’s was completed last August. What an incredible experience and privilege it was to live in the remote wilderness of the Cascade Mountains. We discovered perseverance and resilience, and strengths and weaknesses, previously unknown to us. We also practiced the daily tasks of living with ambiguity and expanding our creativity beyond the visual arts.
Edges, borders and boundaries are places we go to learn, grow, listen, connect and respond. Those places will form the malleable road map for our journey ahead. We have spent the past eight months on a lake in rural western Minnesota. Life on the edge of water and prairie has given us the opportunity to encounter the seasonal transitions of land and creatures, not to mention bird, frog and turtle migrations. Living there also provided us a political boundary to explore that required our attention and growth.
In this next season of our lives, we will engage more fully in the role as artists and community builders, working for environmental and social justice, while traveling as lightly as possible. You can follow our journey, participate in our workshops, or support our work by going to our new website, genesisart.org
We hope that you will find wonder, creative nourishment and some things to ponder, as you explore our website, art, writings, workshops and the inspiration we derive from our earth home, each other and the divine spirit that sustains us all. We plan to continue to partner with artists and teachers, broadening our programs and their reach, to serve this more than human world. By sharing our new site, we hope to begin a communal journey that will bridge the distance between us.
With good courage, and deep gratitude,
Peg + Chuck
